A brief word from us before you read: The Word for the World is dedicated to ending Bible poverty by empowering indigenous communities to lead their own Bible translation projects. Our mission is to ensure that everyone can experience the power of God’s Word in their own heart language. If you share our vision of a world where every nation and tongue has access to the Bible, we invite you to support this mission through your prayers and giving.

At our Vision event, Trusting the Bible, Translating the Bible, we welcomed world-renowned mathematician and theologian Professor John Lennox to talk about his faith in God. We're delighted to share the full interview with you.
John is Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford. In this warm and wide-ranging conversation, he looks back on a life spent following Jesus: from his early years in Northern Ireland, through his studies at Cambridge and Oxford, to his adventures in Russia.
In this video, John discusses:
“Of all the tasks that God has given us, I think the number one task is translating Scripture into indigenous languages.”
Why heart language Bible translation matters
John has read the Bible in his own language all his life. It has shaped how he thinks, how he argues, and how he has followed Jesus for decades.
Yet more than 6,500 languages still don't have a full Bible. For millions of people, the Scriptures John trusts so deeply are still out of reach. At The Word for the World, we work through the local church to change that, so that people can come to know and love the Saviour God in the language they understand best.
