Prayer is the engine room behind all that we do. God promises to hear the cry of his people, and with over 1.5 billion people with no Bible in their language, we need to pray.

Praying for such a huge need can feel daunting, so we have a short guide here on how to pray for Bible translators.
‘The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.’
James 6 verse 13
“Knowing that people who live thousands of miles away are praying for our team, our families, and the communities we serve gives us tremendous encouragement.”
How to become a Prayer Partner
We are asking Christians to partner with us in faithful and persistent prayer. The 3,000 Bibleless language groups are found in regions marked by isolation, instability and resistance. Together we need to ask God to make a way, equipping local translators, strengthening local churches and allowing the light of Scripture to shine in communities for the very first time.
Our teams work all over our turbulent world, facing everything from persecution, publication delays, financial pressures and floods. Knowing that they have fellow Christian brothers and sisters standing with them in prayer greatly encourages their hearts as they carry out their vital work on the front line.
Praying in an informed way is key, and below we have several resources to keep you informed and equipped as you join with us in prayer for our Bible translation projects.

How to pray for Bible Translation
Prayer is vital for Bible translation from start to finish. We know that "if the Lord does not build the house, its labourers labour in vain”, Psalm 127 verse 1.
Every stage and aspect of the work cannot thrive without a foundation of prayer.
Pray for:
Translation starts with identifying prospective translators in connection with local churches or community leaders.
These translators then need to be trained effectively.
As they learn and translate, the trainee translators need perseverance, often in the face of spiritual opposition, health issues, and limited resources.
As translation drafts are tested for clarity and naturalness with community members we need God's wisdom.
When Bible translation consultants check draft translations for faithfulness to the text they need wisdom.
The people for whom the translation is intended need to know the transforming power of God's word in their lives as they read or listen to it.
